Incredible Pumpkins
If you're not familiar with Ray Villafane's work, you really should give his stuff a look. This guy takes simple cutting tools and creates masterpieces in pumpkins, sand castles, and all sorts of sculpture/carving media.

When you carve pumpkins this way, you expose a ton of surface area to the air. The result is that they don't last very long at all. A couple of days at best, and then the pumpkin shrivels up and gets nasty.

those are awesome! I couldn't imagine all that work, and it would be gone in a few days.
ice sculptures are the same idea... it all melts so it would be alot of work for little admire time.
